NUTRIENTS FROM NATURE – EAT A RAINBOW

August 10, 2016 @ 11:30 am - 1:00 pm

Fruits and vegetables with deep colors are certainly beautiful, but those eye-catching colors are actually a signal that they contain important substances that can help your body repair itself. Today, the café team will showcase the salad bar with deep color to indicate the presence of antioxidants, which include nutrients like beta carotene, vitamins C and E and selenium.

In your body these can help to slow oxidative deterioration, prevent disease and help maintain your health. Eating a sufficient amount of deeply colored fruits and vegetables rich in antioxidants, like blueberries, tomatoes, broccoli and spinach, can help protect the body from oxidative damage, strengthen your immune system, and lower your risk for infection and cancer.
